Beach Rules

To help ensure a safe, clean, and enjoyable experience for everyone, please observe the following beach rules:

  1. Beach badges are required at the Monmouth Beach Bathing Pavilion (MBBP) during the designated beach season and must be displayed upon request.
  2. Swim only when lifeguards are on duty and within designated swimming areas.
  3. Always follow the instructions of lifeguards, beach patrol personnel, and Borough officials.
  4. Children should be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
  5. Glass containers are prohibited on the beach.
  6. Please dispose of all trash and recyclables in the appropriate receptacles. Help keep our beaches clean.
  7. Alcoholic beverages and illegal drugs are prohibited.
  8. Smoking and vaping are prohibited where restricted by Borough ordinance or New Jersey law.
  9. Fires, bonfires, fireworks, grills, and cooking equipment are prohibited unless specifically authorized by the Borough.
  10. Pets are prohibited on the beach during the designated beach season except as permitted by Borough ordinance. Service animals are always permitted.
  11. Drones may only be operated in accordance with applicable FAA regulations and Borough regulations.
  12. Amplified music and excessive noise that disturbs others are prohibited.
  13. Tents, canopies, and umbrellas with only one central stanchion no greater than 10 feet are allowed and must not obstruct the view of lifeguards or interfere with pedestrian traffic.
  14. Bicycles, skateboards, scooters, and motorized vehicles are prohibited on the beach except for authorized or emergency vehicles.
  15. Fishing is permitted only in designated areas or during permitted hours and must not interfere with swimmers.
  16. Please respect dune areas. Walking, climbing, or damaging dunes and dune vegetation is strictly prohibited.
  17. Ball playing, frisbees, and other recreational activities must not interfere with other beach patrons and may be restricted in crowded areas.
  18. Commercial activities, solicitation, vending, and organized events require prior Borough approval.
  19. Overnight camping and sleeping on the beach are prohibited.
  20. Violations of these rules may result in removal from the beach, or fines as provided by Borough ordinance.
